Note: we've changed the procedure for starting new communities. Please see the Communities tab for more info.
Mendus is a platform where patients can propose, help design and complete personal research studies with the help of a trained scientist.
Inspired by the quantified-self movement Mendus focuses on the individual, providing 'studies' to assess how various treatment options work, specifically for you. Patients are organized in disorder-specific Communities and with the help of research scientists, can propose, help design and participate in, their own DIY research studies. Group-level analyses become possible by merging our shared results. You can activate a new community, propose a study, join an existing one or learn how to Get Started. There's more info on our Mission page and you can ensure the future of Mendus simply by shopping!

"Thank bloody god I happened on your website... I've tried absolutely everything like everyone else and this is the best yet... I intend on writing my GP to tell him about it." re: D-Ribose Study
How to Support Mendus
Mendus is a private project I built to explore my own health and help those who are in a similar situation. The project is not funded as traditional research is, nor do I charge anyone for the service. By remaining free of the need for research grants I can provide preliminary studies on all sorts of things that may take years or never be done in academia. However, I run the entire site single handedily and I'm not sure how long I can sustain it without help.
Incidentally, I learned of a magical phenomenon called affiliate marketing which allows individuals to support Mendus with no cost to themselves! More seriously, affiliate marketing is a kind of re-distribution of wealth. This is how it works.
I place ads with links to popular online shops on Mendus
You get to your favorite shops by clicking these links
When you make purchases Mendus receives a referral commission
Importantly, the price does not change for you
So if you shop online and would like your purchases to support our work let me know which online retailers you use. If I'm not already I'll try to become 'affiliated' with them and provide a link on our shopping page. Links to the most popular shops are also below.
